Does the moon interact with the Earth's magnetic field

Does the moon interact with the Earth's magnetic field ?

No, there is no measurable known effect relating the Earth's magnetic field
and a slowdown of the moon's orbital speed.

The moon in fact has an iron core, but a little one. This is one of the
facts that supports the "new" theory of its formation, that states that the
moon has been formed from an impact of a big body with the Earth, when the
Earth had already been formed and was in the differentiation process (the
iron was going to the center of the planet, so little amounts of iron were
left to the new formed body after the impact, the moon).

If we consider the fact that the Earth's magnetic field is a weak one,
weaker than any magnet you can find usually in toys, for example, we can
figure out that if such interaction exists, it is very weak to be
accounted, at least by traditional measurements.

A good page to visit related to the moon and its postulated origin can be
